I called Johnny Buck of 13 Stripes Construction because I liked what it said on his website that he will return all calls. So I called him. Our home was severely damaged by Helene when she dropped 5 trees onto our roof. Getting contractors after that nightmare storm has not been easy. But Johnny, true to his website, did in fact call me and in a timely manner, unlike so many others.

He came over to assess the job. The first thing he noticed was that the blue tarp covering the 40' x 20' hole in the roof had no support from underneath. This led to big belly of water from the rain the night before. Sooner or later the gathering weight would lead to rupture and we'd have to dry everything out again. But that day, Johnny helped me to carefully push the belly of water off the tarp onto the ground outside. He then recommended erecting a temporary rafter structure to prevent the rain from collecting. He quoted a reasonable price to which I gave the go-ahead. His company quickly built this temporary structure, which he dubbed the "world's ugliest pergola." I laughed, but not only was it not so ugly, it was sturdily built and would do the job. I was greatly relieved.

If your criteria for hiring a contractor includes transparency, excellent communication skills, and the know-how to get things done, then Johnny Buck may be your man. He is also a very decent fellow, he is self-effacing, funny, and earnest. In all respects Mr. Buck deserves my 5 star rating.

13 Stripes is an incredible construction, and here is why. They are punctual, clean up after themselves, and driven to make the customer extremely happy while completing the project in a timely manner. The driving force behind this great company is Johnny, his attention to detail, ability to forecast, and make adjustments where needed to keep the project moving forward while keeping everybody happy. You will not meet a more honest/genuine person in this industry! Highly recommend you use 13 stripes for your next project, you will be thankful that you did and you will quickly know you made the right choice!
